The only Macedonian political party in Albania, the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration (MAEI), extends its congratulations to all Macedonians on October 11 – the Day of the People’s Uprising of the Macedonian People, the symbol of defiance and unwavering courage of the Macedonian nation, reads the party’s message.
It adds that “The Macedonians from Albania, shoulder to shoulder with their compatriots, joined the Macedonian partisan units during the Second World War, making a great contribution to the struggle for the liberation of Macedonia from Nazi-fascist slavery.”
Many of them “gave their lives for the cause of freedom, independence, and self-determination of the Macedonian people.”
“On this great day, we pay deep respect to all the brave fighters and heroes who gave their lives for a free and independent Macedonia, leaving us with the legacy to preserve the Macedonian identity, language, and culture, and to continue striving for a better and brighter future for our homeland.
