THE FOURTH CONGRESS OF THE MACEDONIAN ALLIANCE FOR EUROPEAN INTEGRATION WAS HELD

On July 29, 2023, the Fourth Congress of the only Macedonian party in Albania – the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration – was held in the city of Korca in the Republic of Albania. 81 delegates from all over Albania – from Tirana, Kavaja, Elbasan, Durres, Gora, Golo Brdo, Prespa, Vrbnik, Korca, Pogradec and Bilishta, adopted a report on the work of the Macedonian Party for the period 2019-2023 and elected its bodies for the next year four-year term from 2023-2027.

The Congress was attended by representatives of the Greek community, the Wallachian community, the Roma community and the Egyptian community in Albania.

The Congress was attended as guests by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Macedonia, Oliver Spasovski, a delegation of VMRO-DPMNE led by General Secretary Gjorgija Sajkoski, a delegation of Rainbow from Greece, led by Pavle Voskopoulos Filipov, a delegation of the World Macedonian Congress led by President Todor Petrov, a delegation of the Macedonian association “Kocho Racin” from Belgrade, Serbia led by the president Lidija Demnieva, a delegation of the Mother of Expatriates from Macedonia led by the president Ivan Jo Petreski, a delegation of the Macedonian International Movement for Human Rights from Canada led by Slavko Mangovski, the delegation of the United Macedonian Diaspora from the USA led by the president Metodija Koloski, a delegation of INTEGRA led by Anita Kitanovska, a delegation of the Macedonian Goran community from Kosovo led by Ace Dimoski, a Macedonian delegation from OMO ILINDEN Pirin from Bulgaria led by Rusi Zlatanov, Trajce Dimkov from the association, “Mirka Ginova”, Nikola Kosturski, former president of the Association of Macedonians from the Aegean part of Macedonia, Ambassador Risto Nikovski and acting the ambassador of Macedonia in Tirana Ljutim Spahiu.

The Fourth Congress elected Taqo Grozdani as chairman and Endrit Fetahu, Edmond Osmani, Sokol Dokle and Elsa Jelili as members of the working presidency, and on the proposal of the working presidency as members of the Verification-Election Commission, Kristian Trajce was elected as president and Goce Vurmo and Jani Kolefski, as members. for recorder Zdravko Necovski.

The congress was opened by Sara Jelili from Elbasan and began with a minute of silence in honor of the Macedonian activist from Albania, Spase Vurmo, who died last year. The Fourth Congress had a ceremonial and working part.

Gjorgija George Atanasovski from Florida, USA and Ico Najdovski on behalf of the Macedonian community in Australia, sent congratulatory telegrams to the Fourth Congress of the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration.

Dr. Branislav Svetozarevic had a short presentation of his work “Macedonians – millennial testimonies about the identity name”.

The President of the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration Vasil Sterjovski awarded special certificates of thanks to individuals and organizations for cooperation with the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration and assistance to the Macedonian community in Albania, the World Macedonian Congress, the United Macedonian Diaspora, the Macedonian International Movement for Human Rights from Canada and Bosilko Agovski from Pustec who lives in Canada.

After the ceremonial part, the delegates in the working part adopted the report of the Verification-Election Commission that 81 delegates attend the Congress and the Congress can work and make decisions in full.

The report on the work of the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration from September 7, 2019 to July 29, 2023 was read by Marjana Kostofska, which was unanimously adopted by the delegates.

The Congress re-elected Vasil Sterjovski, who had the only candidacy for the party’s president, as president of the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration for the next four-year term 2023-2027.

At the proposal of the working presidency, the Congress announced the composition of the Central Committee of the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration with a mandate of 2023-2027. The presidents of the regional and municipal organizations will be co-opted into the composition of the Central Committee according to their choice.

The vice-presidents, the general secretary, the members of the Executive Committee and the working bodies of the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration for the period 2023-2027, in accordance with the Statute, will be elected at the first session of the Central Committee.

The Congress elected Prof. Dr. Kimet Fetahu, founder of the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration, as the honorary president of the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration.

The Congress passed a Resolution on improving the position and rights and freedoms of Macedonians in Albania.

With that, the Congress finished its work, delegates and guests expressed their satisfaction with its holding and the results of its work.
